Oh I bet that there was. That place is a zoo during major events. I usually only go up on Friday nights for street night, I prefer watching street cars race. 68 RSSS
Have new updates on this POS, it's been awhile......... As you know the new motor was installed and all was well. Started the car up one day to drive it two houses down the street, we were going to heat my headers up and bend them as they were arching on the plug boots. Anyways, start it up and it smokes pretty severly, figured it's a new motor it's gonna smoke. Start to drive it and it begins to pour smoke, shut it down and coast into my neighbors driveway. Right as I do this antifreeze begins to shoot out of the breather hole on my overflow tank and hit the windshield, I knew this wasn't good. Pull off the valve covers and notice what I didn't want to see, milky oil. At this point I was ready to stuff a rag into the gas tank and light the car up, be done with it forever. Instead we decided to pull the engine and see exactly what was the issue. Yanked the engine and stripped the top end off, noticed a small crack near one of the cylinders that was previously re-sleeved. Also noticed that the machine shop never used the Cometic gaskets I told him to, but used a very cheap gasket not intended for the bore of my motor, there was a big gap between the gasket and the side of the cylinder wall, so they weren't sealing at all. My friends father said he could tig weld the crack, at that time I also bought the Cometics. Long story short put it all back together, added a new Petronix ignition and distributor and it finally runs like it should. This spring I plan to install the new GMPP valve covers I bought, get the carb rebuilt and maybe even have a single turbo system installed. \
TexFinn
Damn! That must've sucked big time. Glad you got it fixed and then you can fix it again when stuff that hairdryer in there and start turning up the boost since there's never enough of that, anyway. Gotten any snow lately? Yeah it was horrible, can't wait to have boost put to that motor, should be a 10 sec car. As for snow, we got 7" yesterday followed by about three hours of freezing rain and sleet and 22" last week, it's awesome
TexFinn
I'm sure that white stuff has disapeared from the ground by now. How's the Camaro coming along? Running those 10s yet?
68 RSSS
I'm sure that white stuff has disapeared from the ground by now. How's the Camaro coming along? Running those 10s yet? Yes, sadly the snow is gone now Car has been an absolute nightmare, everything that can possibly go wrong with it has. Smokes horribly, has blowby coming out of the drivers side valve cover breather, it's a mess. I think the rings haven't seated yet which may be the source of the blowby. I found out today that the smoke it being caused by my oil pan gasket spraying oil out at high rpms directly onto the headers. I actually listed it for sale tonight, i'm totally burnt out with it. It's not what I have visualized from the beginning and I don't have the funds to always be throwing thousands at it. I'm looking for an 03-04 Mustang Cobra or well built LSX car to replace it with. TexFinn
Wow... Sounds pretty bad. I'm looking for an 03-04 Mustang Cobra or well built LSX car to replace it with. Don't give up on the Camaro yet. Just throw LSx in there and see what happens.

68 RSSS
I wish I could afford to and had the know-how to do an LSX/4l60 swap. The car has blown my bank account apart as it is. I put the car up for 20k which I know is pretty (well very) optimistic pricing, but if somebody offers something close it's gone and if not, i'll just keep it. pics i took of it to sell it http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/04Prox2/001.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/04Prox2/002.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/04Prox2/003.jpg http://i255.photobucket.com/albums/hh131/04Prox2/004.jpg
