WoW looks like disaster  :-\

Though it's a little extra work, don't worry too much about the engine.

Take it apart and clean it some, you don't have to get the parts as clean as new.

Put it back together with new bearings, seals and gaskets.

When your car is ready for the road, just start beating the shit out of it as long as it lasts m/

Exactly, cast iron with rust looks much worse thant it actually is.

You gotta watch out possible pinhole corrosion spots on the cyl.wall after honing.

If water has been in a cyl. long enough ( read more than few days) it may cause pinhole, casting is porous and amazingly thin in some spots.

I've been ending up scrapping some 6.2 diesel blocks due leaking head gasket & water in cylinders , pinhole corrosion  :-\

Yesterday, I disassembly engine to the end, in the end it was not so sad.

In addition to the water in the engine, oil level was missed several times, connecting rod bearings, and indigenous, were such bullies, as if the oil has been with the sand.

Crankshaft will sharpen the second repair (0.020),

The piston in an ideal condition, the motor after real rebuilding.

And if all goes well, I will pay only for rings, bearings and gasket, well, good point all of this is that it is more convenient to paint the engine ...

Well finally wait for the right intake and assembled engine remains the case for linkage, but I fear not the tripod stand and collapses))

Did not like the bolts ARP, they are short and some of them spoiled two threads in the heads, had to replace the usual.

I agree. The colour and the look of engine match really well with your camaro.

When i read first messages of your project topic from last april and compare pictures from starting point to current condition...you have done great job in such a short time m/

Hard to believe its the same car.

In recent pictures it looks like you have 15 inch rim wheels. I guess there's aint much room between brake caliper and the wheel. ("brake porn" indeed)

When can we see some dyno results or 1/4 mile times?

I'm also curious to know how much there is american muscle cars in russian street view after all and what are the prices for good condition ones (let's says few example from the year 1965 to 2000 models)?

Good condition car - 30000$ and more...

Charger - 40000$ - 50000$

Camaro 2 gen - 40000$ - 50000$

Camaro 3 gen - 15000$ - up

So prise is like zigzag ))) Because we havent too much USA retro  cars.

There is no legal way to bring old retro car from the U.S. to Russia. To be precise, it can bring, but we can not get it through customs, and documents on the right of owning a car. And I can `t go on it on public roads. As a result, we collect old cars across Russia which were imported before 2000.

Damn, that sucks! m- Sounds like there is at least one country where things are even more difficult than Finland, so you guys in Finland have it easy.  ;D

 

But as far as I have understood, there are still a lot of cars being exported from the US to Russia. Is it then easier to import newer cars?
