AHAHAHAHAHA! Basically we had sold our house in the "states" and were looking for a place in Finland... didnt really matter were as long as it wasnt too up north. Just needed a good amount of space, were looking at houses in Somero for a long time and made an offer on one but somehow that got weird (they said it was sold, then called back after we bought Merikarvia to say we can buy it?) - We had two containers packed full of our stuff (3 cars, 3 17-18" boats, furniture, dirt bikes + 4 wheelers, tractors, etc... - Somehow we found the place in Merikarvia and it had a real good sized garage so we ended up buying it.

 

Have a place in Vantaa too but parking really sucks (no spots), so looks like Im gonna leave the TA for a while at Merikarvia until we can figure something out.

None of the above... Came here because got tired of some issues in the US and since we had sold our house it was a good chance to relocate. And finding a job here is pretty horrible, seems like a real lack of jobs in my field.

I know in Finland many people are considering doing just the opposite, but it is kind of hard to get a permission to come and live and work here just like that... Unless you are coming from south of the border, of course. Then you don't need anything.

 

Good luck with everything and hopefully I get to meet you one of these days in one of the meets, or something.

How long you staying in Finland for?

 

There were reasons I left (everyday things you go "stuff like this doesnt happen elsewhere") and from what I heard from people who had moved here/visited here everything seemed to be better... Ill admit somethings are better, but Im now saying "stuff like this didnt happen in the US" (and "Dunkin Donuts was better" )...

I just spent almost two weeks there and won't be back until we come for our vacation (end of July).

 

Yeah, each of these places has its pros and cons. Still, after over 9.5 years, I consider myself being a bit better off here, though.

Muistaakseni Merikarvia on ensimmäinen paikkakunta Porista pohjoiseen jossa kyltit muuttuu kaksikielisiksi kohti pohojanmaata mentäessä. Olisko se ollut Sastmola tai jotain?
